Dr. Yolanda Alcaraz-Limcangco sanctioned by CPSA Hearing Tribunal

Hearing Decisions, Media Release | Posted June 28, 2022

Edmonton, AB – After being found guilty of unprofessional conduct by a CPSA Hearing Tribunal in January 2022, Dr. Yolanda Alcaraz-Limcangco was sanctioned for failing to complete a CPSA Individual Practice Review (IPR). The family physician from Edmonton was required to complete an IPR as part of a Terms of Resolution agreement she signed with CPSA in 2018 to resolve a complaint.

The Tribunal considered submissions from both parties before issuing their order on sanction, which includes the following:

  • Dr. Alcaraz-Limcangco must, at her own cost, undergo a Clinical Competence Assessment at the Centre for Personalized Education for Physicians (CPEP) and provide CPSA’s Complaints Director with the assessment results.
  • Dr. Alcaraz-Limcangco must pay a fine of $10,000 and is responsible for the full costs of the investigation and hearing (total amount to be finalized).

The full decisions on both merits and sanction can be viewed via the links below. Dr. Alcaraz-Limcangco has appealed the finding of unprofessional conduct, which will be heard at a future hearing (date to be determined).
