Assessors

CPSA relies on health care professionals to perform a variety of different clinical and physician assessments. All CPSA assessors are contract positions with CPSA.

All CPSA assessors are contract positions and not employment opportunities.

If you are interested in being considered for assessor opportunities, please review the qualifications below and submit your expression of interest.

Registration assessors

We rely on qualified physician assessors from across Alberta to help us review physicians who are new-to-Canada, have changed their practice or are returning from a long break.

Our assessors are highly-respected clinicians who help us ensure we’re registering competent and well-trained physicians.

PCA assessor qualifications

  • Have an Alberta medical practice permit
  • Are on the General Register
  • Are in good standing with CPSA
  • Have 3 or more years of active practice in Alberta
  • Preference of holding the national certification (CFPC or RCPSC) in their specialty or sub-specialty or an active faculty appointment
  • Have AHS or Covenant Health privileges, if applicable to the scope of the physician being assessed
  • Come highly recommended by their Department Head/Zone Medical Director or have passed a CPSA peer review
  • Have recent experience in teaching and assessing medical students and residents
  • Demonstrate common sense, objectivity and the ability to make firm decisions
  • Are leaders among their peers

Diagnostic Imaging assessors

We’re always looking for DI experts to help ensure patient safety province-wide. Use your knowledge to earn continuing competence credits and compensation.
If you have active registration in good standing with ACMDTT or Sonography Canada and more than 5 years of experience in DI, this may be an excellent opportunity for you.

DI assessor qualifications

Here are a few other things we are looking for:
  • You are a senior or lead tech
  • You work well with people and are a strong communicator
  • You understand DI standards and Quality Control
  • You are organized, able to manage your time and have an eye for detail.

Pulmonary Function Diagnostics assessors

We’re always looking for PFD experts to help ensure patient safety province-wide. Use your knowledge to earn continuing competence credits and compensation.

If you are a registered RRT (respiratory therapist) with active CARTA registration and more than 3 months of supervised experience in an accredited PFD lab or you hold active registration with the Canadian Association of Cardio Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) with a pulmonary or combined cardio/pulmonary registration, this may be an excellent opportunity for you.

PFD assessor qualifications

Here are a few other things we are looking for:

  • You have more than 5 years’ experience in PFD
  • You are a senior/lead technologist
  • You have a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s licence
  • You work well with people and are a strong communicator
  • You understand Pulmonary Function standards and Quality Management
  • You are organized and have solid time management and observational skills

Sleep Medicine Diagnostics assessors

We’re always looking for sleep medicine experts to help ensure patient safety province-wide. Use your knowledge to earn continuing competence credits and compensation.

If you are a Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGT), Somnologist – Technologist (ESRS), RRT with current College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA) registration or another regulated health professional with at least a CPSGT credential from the BRPT and more than 5 years of experience in sleep medicine, this may be an excellent opportunity for you.

SMD assessor qualifications

Here are a few other things we are looking for:

  • You are a senior or lead technologist
  • You have a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence
  • You work well with people and are a strong communicator
  • You understand Sleep Medicine standards and Quality Management
  • You are organized and have solid time management and observational skills
  • You have some experience in a Level 1 sleep facility (preferred)

Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy assessors

We’re always looking for health professionals with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAPT) expertise to help ensure patient safety province-wide. Use your knowledge to earn continuing competence credits and compensation.

If you are a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with current College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) registration and more than 3 years of experience, this may be an excellent opportunity for you.

PAPT assessor qualifications

Here are a few other things we are looking for:

  • You are a registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse or licensed practical nurse
  • You hold an active registration with your respective regulatory college
  • You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, mood or related disorders
  • You have a valid Alberta driver’s licence
  • You have experience with Quality Management Systems
  • You have strong communication, time management, organizational  and observational skills

Neurodiagnostic assessor

We’re looking for a Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to participate in accreditation assessments as an Assessor on a contract basis. Use your knowledge to earn continuing competence credits and compensation.

Neurodiagnostic assessor qualifications

If you are an experienced neurophysiology technologist with full and current registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and recent technical experience in EEG, EMG and EP studies, this may be an excellent opportunity for you.

Here are a few other things we are looking for:

  • You have a full and current registration with ACMDTT
  • You have recent technical experience in EEG, EMG and preferably EP
  • You have senior or lead technologist experience in a healthcare setting
  • You have experience with Quality Management Systems
  • You have knowledge and understanding of neurophysiology standards
  • You have strong verbal and written communication, organizational and computer skills
