CPSA and Alberta Health Services streamline how physicians respond to complaints

Albertans, Complaints, Physicians | Posted April 19, 2022

CPSA and Alberta Health Services (AHS) have developed a new protocol, the AHS Physician Use and Disclosure of AHS Health Information Protocol, to streamline how physicians respond to complaints.

Under this process, if a complaint has been made to CPSA and information from a patient record is required so the physician may respond, the AHS Physician Use and Disclosure of Health Information for Responding to a CPSA Complaint form can be submitted to request AHS authorization to access the patient record. The information accessed is limited to what directly relates to the complaint and must be relevant to the response by the physician to CPSA.

Members of the AHS medical staff can log into the AHS website to access the form and additional information.
