Register to practice in Alberta
In Alberta, all physicians and medical learners must be registered with CPSA. We register medical students, medical residents, physician extenders (Alberta medical residents offering semi-autonomous health care under a registered physician) and physicians. Physicians wishing to offer telemedicine or temporary care in Alberta must also be registered with CPSA.

Transferring from another Canadian province or territory?
Physicians must have an Alberta medical practice permit to practise medicine in Alberta. However, Canada’s mobility agreements can make it easier for physicians who are already licensed in another province or territory to become registered with CPSA.
