Watch for it in August 2023

To help physicians keep track of where they are in their practice improvement journey, CPSA’s Continuing Competence team has created a Physician Practice Improvement Program (PPIP) Report. This individualized, informational resource will capture your progress in meeting PPIP requirements, based on the responses from your past renewal information forms (RIF).

Your first PPIP report will be available this month and going forward, will be uploaded to your CPSA Portal every spring.

When the PPIP Report hits your CPSA Portal, you will receive a notification to the email address you have on file with CPSA saying you have CPSA personal mail to review. Please don’t be alarmed! This is an automatic notice sent out any time a document or letter is uploaded to your Portal.

As a reminder, active regulated members on the general, provisional and telemedicine registers are required to complete three activities, one from each PPIP category below, every five years:

At this time, reports will not be available for regulated members on a limited register or physician assistant register.

For more information on how to complete your PPIP requirements, review our videos:

Please note, your five-year PPIP cycle will follow your continuing professional development (CPD) cycle as determined by MOC or Mainpro. We have extended the PPIP cycle for those whose CPD cycle ends prior to 2026 to allow adequate time to complete PPIP requirements.

You will receive an email notification of a new document in your CPSA Portal once your report is available. If the information in your report is incorrect, please contact us at ppip@cpsa.ab.ca.

Take a look at our website, cpsa.ca/ppip, for more information on PPIP.
