Dr. Yifei Shi withdrawn from practice

Media Release | Posted May 7, 2021

Dr. Yifei Shi, a family physician from Edmonton, has agreed to withdraw from practice effective May 1, 2021 after being arrested and charged by the Edmonton Police Service Economic Crimes Section and Service Alberta Health Investigations Unit. The allegations include one count of fraud over $5,000 and one count of theft over $5,000.

In situations where criminal charges are made, the criminal matter takes priority over a CPSA investigation. What usually occurs is once criminal proceedings have been completed, if necessary, a CPSA complaint can be opened.

Patients of Dr. Shi can contact her clinic for instructions on how to access care. Other resources to use to identify a new physician include the West Edmonton Primary Care Network at 780-443-7477 or CPSA’s physician search tool: https://search.cpsa.ca/PhysicianSearch.
