Dr. Keith Martin found guilty of unprofessional conduct

Hearing Decisions, Media Release | Posted April 20, 2021

Edmonton, AB – A CPSA hearing tribunal has found Dr. Keith Martin, a family physician from Slave Lake, guilty of unprofessional conduct for inappropriately biting the upper arm of a nurse and using inappropriate language with the nursing staff at the Slave Lake Hospital.

Dr. Martin admitted to using the phrase, “uterus, I need a uterus,” on occasion when calling for a nurse to serve as a chaperone during examinations with a female patient.

The hearing tribunal noted his admitted conduct completely disregarded his co-workers right to feel safe and respected in their workplace, and to be treated as respected and valued healthcare professionals.

Dr. Martin’s sanction hearing took place on April 13, 2021, and will be shared once the hearing decision has been finalized.
