COVID-19 Vaccine Update for Healthcare Professionals

Physician Assistants, Physicians | Posted April 12, 2021

Alberta Health announced Friday that all frontline healthcare providers will be eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccinations beginning April 12, 2021. In order to prove eligibility, frontline regulated healthcare providers must provide a copy of their active practice permit. Physicians and Physician Assistants registered with CPSA can download a copy of their practice permit from the CPSA Physician/PA Portal

In addition, staff who work in healthcare clinics will become eligible for vaccination in Phase 2C. Clinic managers and medical directors are able to provide an employer letter, which can be downloaded from the Physician/PA portal, to their staff in order to authorize their vaccination. Please review the Phase 2C launch information carefully to provide information to the healthcare professionals and associated staff in your offices or clinics.

Only frontline healthcare providers working in patient care facilities or providing direct patient care in the community are eligible to receive the vaccine at this time. Due to limited vaccine supply, non-frontline healthcare providers in Phase 2C will become eligible in the coming weeks.

For more information on the vaccine rollout, please visit the Alberta Health website directly.
