Agreement in Principle: Alberta’s Care Plan for Chronic Pain Patients on Long-Term Opioid Therapy

Albertans, Opioids, Physicians, Prescribing | Posted June 1, 2021

In October 2019, the Pain Society of Alberta presented the initial draft of a document, the Agreement in Principle, which was intended to provide a framework of mutually agreed upon principles that could be used to guide a provincial care plan for chronic pain patients on long-term opioid therapy. The final document, Agreement in Principle 2.0, is the result of extensive review and feedback by the members of the signatory groups, and represents an important commitment to the provision of high quality care to a vulnerable patient community. CPSA is committed to supporting this important work.
