The conscience rights of the PHYSICIAN are those being discussed. If, in the physician’s opinion, a patient is requesting something wrong, harmful, sinful or evil, such as assisted suicide or the killing of an innocent life, the physician should NOT be forced or coerced to participate in this wrong, harmful, sinful or evil act against their will and conscience. Simply imagine any other act that you consider evil;’now rather than forcing someone else to commit the act, force them to sign a form and facilitate the act. You are merely moving them from actor to accomplice: both are morally culpable and would be prosecuted under our laws. This is unacceptable.
