Council elections: nominations process will look different this year
Back to MessengerRead time: 1 minute
CPSA conducted a comprehensive governance review in 2022 to ensure our governing Council is optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. One of the recommendations from that review, which Council approved, was to enhance the nominations process for regulated members running for Council to help ensure Council reflects diverse backgrounds, competencies and experiences while maintaining a focus on our mandate to protect the public.
At its March 7, 2025 meeting, CPSA Council approved changes to its bylaws that enable an enhanced nomination process to begin this year.
Nominations will open in the spring
One of the key changes is that the nomination period for regulated members interested in running for Council is moving up from the fall to the spring. This shift will allow more time to review the nominations that are submitted. It will also provide physicians with more time to get to know the candidates running for election. As in previous years, voting will open in the fall.
