About the standard
The Advertising standard was last updated in 2021. The proposed amendments modernize the standard and clarify expectations for advertising services that may not be publicly funded, helping patients better understand when services are privately paid.
What’s changed?
- Updates expectations around the use of testimonials.
- Addition of requirements if using before-and-after photos and videos.
- Clarifies and updates expectations for the advertising of privately funded services under new legislation.
- Strengthens transparency for patients about publicly funded and privately paid services.
- Updates terminology to align with Alberta’s new legislative framework.
Since this consultation includes more standards than usual, in an effort to make this easier, you can access a summary document in the resources below that identifies each proposed change alongside rationale of how the edits align with the legislative and regulatory requirements of Bills 11, 13 and 29.
