Limited practice registration

Physicians and osteopaths on the limited practice register may provide limited medical services as Associate Physicians while under supervision.

Limited practice registration is available for physicians and osteopaths who don’t currently meet our criteria for independent practice but have successfully completed Alberta Health Services (AHS) or Covenant Health’s Associate Physician orientation program.

CPSA has basic expectations of Associate Physicians with limited practice registration.

Please note: If you are in postgraduate training, you must apply for physician extender registration to provide medical care.

Submit a qualifications review

CPSA will confirm if you meet eligibility requirements and send an Eligibility Letter.

Complete the full application

Includes documentation, fees, orientation, and a CPSA practice permit.
