Updated Advice to the Profession: Referral Consultation
Back to MessengerRead time: 1 minute
The Advice to the Profession (AtP) document for the Referral Consultation standard of practice has been updated. CPSA provides advice to the profession to support regulated members in implementing the CPSA Standards of Practice.
Within this document, the section referring to “shared investigations” has been added to include clarifying information. This addition outlines the responsibility of consultants in ordering investigations once a referral is accepted, while also highlighting that it is reasonable for consultants to ask a referring provider to order specific investigations in advance of an appointment if it helps speed up processes so that patients can receive care sooner.
For more information, see page 6 of the AtP Referral Consultation document.
