The Ministry of Health recently approved several Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP) recommendations to improve the Rural Education Supplement and Integrated Doctor Experience (RESIDE) Program.
Some of the changes include the following:
- Participant eligibility criteria has been expanded to include family medicine physicians who completed residency in Canada within the last five years. Family medicine residents in their final year (R2) and family medicine residents taking enhanced skills training (R3) continue to be eligible.
- Eligible communities have been expanded to include rural and remote communities who have a higher than 0.00% variable fee premium on the Alberta Health Rural Remote Northern Program Community Rate Table. The regional sites of Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie are excluded. For a full list of eligible communities, visit: https://rhpap.ca/programs-services/reside/communities/
- A flexible return of service term: option of a two-year or three-year term.
- A flexible application process: application portal remains open until all RESIDE funds are allocated or end of pilot phase (end of 2024), whichever comes first.
See the steps to apply and apply now via the application portal.
