Eliminating barriers for U.S.-trained Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine

CPSA has determined that training and certification for U.S. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is considered substantially equivalent to the training and certification provided through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS). This means that U.S.-trained Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who completed AOA-approved programs are eligible for independent practice in Alberta.
