CPSA is the only medical regulator in Canada with a devoted in-house Analytics, Innovation & Research (AIR) team.

CPSA’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan prioritizes innovation as one of our key directions, focusing on exploring “new and better ways of doing our work.” This principle guides the AIR team as we implement innovative strategies to enhance physician competency and strengthen our practice improvement programs.

Research & Evaluation Unit

Supporting quality medical practice with research and evaluation.

The Research & Evaluation Unit (REVU)conducts health and regulatory-focused research and supports all CPSA departments by evaluating program effectiveness through a variety of research methods.

Physician Prescribing Practices

Improving prescribing practices through data and evidence.

The Physician Prescribing Practices (PPP) program works with physicians to collaboratively address complex patient situations and develop resources to support better prescribing practices.

TPP Alberta

Using data to optimize safe patient care.

The Tracked Prescription Program (TPP Alberta) monitors the use of prescription drugs prone to misuse and uses data to educate and improve patient care.
