Now live: CPSA’s accredited facility directory
Back to MessengerRead time: 1 minute
CPSA is pleased to announce the launch of our new online search tool: the accredited facility directory. This tool allows regulated members and Albertans alike to look up accredited diagnostic and non-hospital surgical facilities across Alberta by type (e.g., cardiac stress testing, diagnostic imaging), name and location. This online directory was developed in alignment with Section 54.3 of CPSA Bylaws indicating that CPSA’s “Registrar shall publish a list of active accredited medical facilities in Alberta on the College website”.
What is an accredited facility?
If you have ever been to or sent a patient for lab work, an x-ray, or another diagnostic procedure or non-hospital surgical procedure, you have likely crossed paths with a CPSA-accredited facility. An accredited facility has successfully gone through the process of assessment and approval from CPSA to make sure that it is following the established accreditation standards for the services provided. Accreditation is a requirement for all facilities across Alberta that provide a prescribed health service, defined by CPSA Bylaws.
Using the tool
The next time you are looking for a facility that provides a prescribed health service, you and your team can use this tool to look up accredited diagnostic and non-hospital surgical facilities in your area. In addition to details about the facility name, location, contact and scope, the search results will include the facility accreditation status.
Check out the accredited facility directory online and consider bookmarking it for future use.
Please note: This tool does not include information on non-accredited facilities or medical clinics that do not provide any services on the prescribed health services list.
