About the standard
Since it took effect in March 2023, CPSA has received feedback that clause 7(b) of the current Restricted Activities standard is limiting the provision of medical care in certain settings. The intent of the clause was to ensure CPSA regulated members were not able to compel other health professionals into performing activities that would put them in contravention of their own regulator. As the Restricted Activities standard recently went through the consultation process, only the newly added clauses are being reviewed at this time. Feedback outside of these clauses will be retained for the next time the standard is under review.
What’s changed?
- Added clauses to signal that regulated members are not obligated to supervise, nor can they compel others to complete restricted activities;
- Simplified clause 9 around supervision of a person performing a restricted activity or clarity; and
- Clarified situations in which supervision of a regulated health professional is allowed.
