About the consultation
Human Health Research
The Human Health Research standard is under review to support consistency with national guidance and other related CPSA standards. Content of the standard has been streamlined to remove duplicated requirements that are already communicated by Alberta research ethics boards, as well as removing expectations that may not be applicable to all situations.
Re-entering Medical Practice or Changing Scope of Practice
The Re-Entering Medical Practice or Changing Scope of Practice standard was published in January 2010 and requires review to clarify expectations and definitions that apply to regulated members in different phases of their practice. Changes to the standard include added terminology, expectations and clauses relating to adding services, changing scope and returning to practice. Other additions also clarify registration requirements for permits that have been inactive for more than 90 days.
Relationships with Industry
The Relationships with Industry standard was published in January 2010 and is under review to support regulated members in navigating this topic. Amendments and additions to this standard provide more information relating to conflicts of interest and teaching aids. Certain clauses relating to research were moved from this standard to the draft update to the Human Health Research standard for consistency.
