Route to registration for international medical graduates (IMGs) certified in approved jurisdictions

Posted June 9, 2025
As of June 9, 2025, physicians certified in approved jurisdictions, where medical education and training are deemed substantially equivalent to Canadian standards, will now move directly to full licensure on the General Register. This change builds on the success of the Accelerated Jurisdiction Route pilot project launched in 2023 and means eligible physicians will no longer be required to undergo a Practice Readiness Assessment (PRA) or additional chart reviews.
