Reminder: Diagnostic Imaging Version 4 Accreditation Standards
Back to MessengerRead time: 1 minute
The Version 4 (v4) Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Standards were officially launched on Jan. 31, 2024. These standards were effective immediately for new accredited facilities as well as existing facilities requesting additional modality approvals. For all other facilities, compliance with the (v4) standards must be achieved by Oct. 1, 2024.
Compliance reminders
We would like to bring attention to two amendments within the (v4) standards that may require action from existing diagnostic imaging facilities.
If you are an accredited facility providing ultrasound imaging service in Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, Lethbridge or Medicine Hat, to comply with (v4) standards, you must have an on-site imaging specialist.
Under (v4) standards, medical directors of diagnostic imaging facilities are now required to be regulated members in good standing with CPSA. Medical directors must be diagnostic radiologists, cardiologists (with recognized echocardiography training, e.g. CCS/CSE) or nuclear medicine specialists.
If you have any concerns about meeting the (v4) standards, please contact accreditation@cpsa.ab.ca as soon as possible so we can help you achieve compliance.
Visit our accreditation page for more information on (v4) revisions and details about compliance expectations.
