FAQs: 2025 Annual Renewal

Posted November 4, 2024

Payment

When will Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) be withdrawn?
PAP will be withdrawn on Monday, December 2nd. 2024.

What is the cutoff for PAP enrollment?
The cutoff date for PAP enrollment is November 21st, 2024. Anyone who enrolls after this date will not have their annual renewal fees withdrawn through PAP for their 2025 renewal.

How do I sign up for PAP?
You can sign up for PAP by visiting www.cpsa.ca/pap2024

Does CPSA accept Visa Debit or e-transfer?
No.

Can I opt in for a monthly payment option for renewal fees?
No.

How do I know if my payment details for PAP are up to date?
If you signed up for PAP before Sept. 5, 2024, you can verify your payment details by logging into your CPSA Portal. The Documents tab will have a PDF titled “Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) plan banking information” for you to review.
If your banking information is incorrect, please visit www.cpsa.ca/PAP2024 to re-submit the PAP form by no later than November 21, 2024 with your updated banking information to ensure your annual renewal payment is withdrawn on December 2, 2024 as expected. If it is correct, no further action is required.

Address

It says something is missing from the address, but I can’t see what it is.
It’s likely one of the questions describing the practice. Select “Edit” to change the address and then select “Next” to find the missing information.

How do I enter an international address as my primary address?
This can be done in two ways:

  1. Start typing your address in the “Search for an address” field. When you start typing, at the bottom of the dropdown list, you will see “Canada” listed as the country, but if you click the dropdown, you can select any country of your choice.
  2. You can use the “Address Override” toggle to make the greyed-out address fields editable and manually enter your international address.

What if only the first three characters of the postal code pop up?
Use the “Address Override” toggle to manually update your postal code.

General

How long does it take to complete the annual renewal process?
Approximately 45 minutes.

What are the late fee penalties for each renewal?

  • Practice Permit: $500
  • Professional Corporation: $200

If I started the form before Dec. 31, but actually completed the form after Dec. 31, will I be charged late penalties?
Yes. The form must be completed by Dec. 31 to avoid late fees.

After completing my renewal, how long until my practice permit displays in Portal?
You can view and print your practice permit three (3) business days after completing your annual renewal form and submitting your payment.

If you are signed up for PAP and complete your renewal before the PAP withdrawal date (Dec. 2) your permit will be available in Portal on Dec. 13.

Other

I am looking to retire this year. How does this impact my annual renewal?
You still need to complete your annual renewal form to let us know that you are retiring. Visit the retirement webpage on our website to see what else you need to do before retirement. Regulated members who are retiring or withdrawing from practice on or before Dec. 31, 2024 will not be issued a practice permit.

General questions

Why aren’t the professional addresses pre-populated this year?
Due to the technical issues with the address fields during last year’s annual renewal, we wanted to make sure we captured up-to-date information for this year to ensure the information in our system is accurate. CPSA intends to return to pre-populated professional address information in the future.
