Dr. Daniel McKennitt found guilty of unprofessional conduct by CPSA Hearing Tribunal

Edmonton, AB – A CPSA Hearing Tribunal has found Dr. Daniel McKennitt, a family physician from Edmonton, guilty of unprofessional conduct for failing to comply with a practice restriction requiring his participation in and cooperation with CPSA’s Health & Practice Condition Monitoring Program (formerly the Physician Health Monitoring Program).

The Tribunal accepted Dr. McKennitt’s admission of unprofessional conduct and a joint recommendation on sanction, ordering the following:

• Dr. McKennitt’s practice permit is suspended for a period of 18 months, with 12 months considered served for the period he was out of practice between April 2024 and April 2025.
• The remaining six months are held in abeyance pending Dr. McKennitt fulfilling the remaining orders of the Hearing Tribunal.
• Dr. McKennitt’s practice permit is subject to conditions, which can be modified or removed by CPSA’s Assistant Registrar, Continuing Competence.
• Dr. McKennitt is responsible for a portion of the costs of the investigation and hearing, totalling $5,000.
