Next week, CPSA will be accepting feedback on proposed amendments to three standards of practice:
Dispensing Drugs for a Fee
- Additions and amendments around this standard are intended to support patient safety by emphasizing the provision of appropriate information to inform patient decisions, supporting prescribing within the physician-patient relationship whenever possible and providing clarity around requirements for obtaining, storing and dispensing drugs.
Disclosure of Adverse or Harmful Events
- With a continued emphasis on patient care, changes to this standard emphasize the requirement of regulated members to disclose harmful events and when disclosure of near-miss events should be considered.
Virtual Care
- Changes to the standard seeks to remove barriers for patients in remote/rural settings and support continuity of care while using a virtual care platform, as well as highlighting the impact that a regulated member’s location may have on liability protection.
