The Patient-Ordered Testing standard was developed in response to the upcoming application of of Bill 11, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 (No. 2) and Bill 29, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2026, and establishes professional expectations for regulated members involved in providing patient-ordered preventative diagnostic imaging. The proposed standard supports patient safety by establishing expectations for assessing whether a requested test is clinically appropriate, supporting informed decision-making, ensuring appropriate documentation and providing timely follow-up communication.
