A medical degree or osteopathic degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

Injury Management Consultant eligibility requirements

Insurance Act Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols Regulation Part 3, Section 18 (2) (a-d): 

• Is an active practicing member of that person’s profession
• Is knowledgeable with respect to the biopsychosocial model
• Is knowledgeable with respect to assessing acute and chronic pain
• Is experienced in rehabilitation and disability management
• Uses evidence-informed decision-making in his or her practice, and
• Meets any additional qualifications established by the Superintendent and approved by the councils of the colleges concerned

Section 19: A person ceases to be an injury management consultant if: 

• The council of the profession concerned notifies the Superintendent that the person’s name is to be removed from the IMC register, and
• The Superintendent removes the person’s name from the IMC register

Certified Examiner eligibility requirements

Insurance Act Minor Injury Regulation, Part 3, Section 16(2)(a-d) 

• Is an active practicing member under the HPA
• Has successfully completed an examination approved by the council of the college concerned for admission as a certified examiner
• Has demonstrated to the satisfaction of the council of the college concerned that the person:
• Is knowledgeable with respect to the biopsychosocial model
• Is knowledgeable with respect to assessing acute and chronic pain
• Is knowledgeable in the application of the ICD
• Is experienced in rehabilitation and disability management
• Is competent in conducting independent assessments and providing third party opinions, and
• Uses evidence-informed decision-making in the person’s practice, and
• Meets any additional qualifications established by the Superintendent and approved by the councils of the colleges concerned

Section 17: A person ceases to be a certified examiner if: 

• The council of the profession concerned notifies the Superintendent that the person’s name is to be removed from the CE register, and
  • The Superintendent removes the person’s name from the CE register

Physician must have successfully completed the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) certification.
