Reviewing your Q3 2025 MD Snapshot-Prescribing report
Your personalized Snapshot-Prescribing is an interactive tool to provide you with your quarterly prescribing trends. The information in your Prescribing report is designed to support your awareness of individual prescribing practices, self-reflection and professional development. Remember: It is not a report card, nor is it a punitive measure.

Antibiotics section updates
In early 2025, a multidisciplinary working group collaborated with CPSA to redesign the Snapshot Prescribing’s antibiotics page, with a focus on highlighting and encouraging reflection on days’ supply of antibiotics.
New section highlights include:
- The proportion of antibiotic dispenses with more than seven days’ supply
- The frequency of patients prescribed antibiotics
- Fluoroquinolone dispenses

Why is the Practice Checkup an important resource?
- Mitigate risks and find opportunities for improvement: While the Practice Checkup does not provide direct clinical guidance, you will be presented with risk mitigation strategies to support your practice.
- Compare your practice against peers: The Practice Checkup dashboard will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on your patterns in the context of broader trends and best practices at a regional and provincial level.
- CME credits: Reviewing your Practice Checkup qualifies for continuing medical education credits with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
What does the Practice Checkup include?
The MD Snapshot-Practice Checkup presents annual data across 12 performance factors, including:
- Specialty: Explore the number of complaints received and monitored medications prescribed per specialty, and how your individual practice aligns with your peers.
- Practice location: Explore the number of physicians practising in metro, urban and rural locations and how location impacts prescribing patterns.
What’s new in this version?
- Redesigned dashboard with new and improved interactive elements to help you navigate and compare data
