About the CPSA Code of Conduct
Outlining expectations regarding a physician’s professional behaviour, CPSA’s Code of Conduct is consistent with the Canadian Medical Association’s Code of Ethics & Professionalism and complements CPSA’s Standards of Practice.
When inappropriate behaviour occurs, we will consider the following circumstances, though they cannot be used as an excuse:
- The well-being of the physician
- Systemic issues within the health care system
As with our Standards of Practice, the Code of Conduct is the product of collaboration between CPSA and key partners, incorporating feedback received from a comprehensive consultation with physicians and other interested parties.
