Calling experts for CPSA’s Accreditation Expert Panel Roster
Back to MessengerRead time: 2 minutes
CPSA’s Accreditation department ensures safe, high-quality care for Albertans receiving health care in accredited medical and diagnostic facilities.
CPSA’s Medical Facility Accreditation Committee (MFAC) is responsible for granting or renewing facility accreditation and making related recommendations to CPSA Council. In the past, advisory committees for each accreditation facility program area (e.g., diagnostic imaging, laboratory medicine, etc.) provided advice to MFAC regarding decisions related to their specialty.
In an effort to improve, streamline and modernize accreditation processes, the advisory committees are being phased out to be replaced by an Accreditation Expert Panel Roster—and CPSA is recruiting!
Calling all experts!
CPSA is looking for physicians and subject matter experts to join our Accreditation Expert Panel Roster! The roster will be used to call upon experts throughout the year to sit on one of CPSA’s monthly virtual Accreditation Expert Panels. The panels will be used to support CPSA in addressing various accreditation topics such as standard interpretation and application, accreditation status analysis, patient and staff safety issues and much more.
CPSA is currently looking for subject matter experts in one or more of the following areas: Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiac Stress Testing, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine, Neurodiagnostic, Non-Hospital Surgical Facilities (i.e., surgical specialties and anesthesiology), Pulmonary Function Diagnostics, Sleep Medicine Diagnostics, Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAPT). Physicians who refer patients to these accredited services, including those working in family medicine and general internal medicine, are also encouraged to apply.
As a member of the Expert Panel Roster, your primary role will be to sit on at least one monthly virtual panel per year. In addition, you may be asked to consult on complex and high-impact case files, using your expertise to provide evidence-informed analysis and/or recommendations that may be used to support Accreditation Expert Panel deliberations.
Here are important details relating to this valuable role in province-wide accreditation:
Time commitment:
- Accreditation Expert Panel participation: Virtual accreditation panels will be held once a month, each up to 3 hours in length. Experts must sit on at least one panel per year.
- Expert review: An average expert review takes approximately 4 to 8 hours. These will be discussed with roster members on a case-by-case and capacity basis.
Compensation: Honorarium and expenses for the role of a panel member will be paid at CPSA rates. Time spent providing expert review for case consultation will be paid hourly (please note, expert review is considered a contract position, not an employment opportunity within CPSA).
How to apply: You can submit an expression of interest and resume through our online form. For more information about the role and/or to express interest, please visit our website.
