The Health Professions Act (HPA) is a piece of legislation in Alberta that gives health professionals (like physicians) the ability to self-regulate. Regulatory colleges (like CPSA) are the mechanism for self-regulation. The Act governs the practice of self-regulation and sets out standards for regulatory colleges in the areas of registration, continuing competence, complaints and discipline.
