Max Klein allegedly providing health services without a license

Media Release | Posted August 21, 2026

Edmonton, AB – CPSA has learned that Max F. Klein of Edmonton has allegedly been presenting himself as a physician and providing health services to patients in the Edmonton area.

Under the Health Professions Act, a person who is not a regulated health professional cannot provide health services in Alberta, or use a protected title such as “doctor”.

Mr. Klein has not held an active practice permit in Alberta since 2015. His CPSA registration was cancelled in 2022, after he was found guilty by a CPSA Hearing Tribunal for administering an illicit substance to a colleague in 2015 without their knowledge or consent. At the time of the incident, Mr. Klein was a postgraduate medical trainee at the University of Alberta.

Patients seeking health services can search CPSA’s Physician Directory to verify that a physician is registered with CPSA and licensed to provide medical care.

Anyone who may have received health services from Mr. Klein is encouraged to contact Health Link at 811.
