- There are no annual renewal fees for medical students or postgraduate trainees (unless practising as a physician extender)
- *Fee waiver: The registration administration fee and first annual practice permit renewal fee are waived for physicians who complete their residency or fellowship in Alberta between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2027.
- If registering with CPSA for the first time between October and December, prorated rates may apply.
- A permit fee of $100 will be applied for all physicians starting a Practice Readiness Assessment (PRA).

Review of Qualifications fee
Applies to Step 3 (Submit a review of qualifications) of the Apply for Independent Practice registration process.

- Certificates of Professional Conduct are free for Alberta medical students and residents, and for physicians within two months of finishing their postgraduate training.

Physician Extender fees
Unlike their resident peers, physician extenders have to pay an initial registration fee and an annual renewal fee. These fees are not refundable.

Registration Assessment fees
Practice Readiness Assessment (PRA) fees
Fees, including taxes, for a PRA assessment are paid by the sponsor and cover the cost of the assessors’ time and any expenses they incur related to the assessment. They also include any fees CPSA pays to the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) to be a part of the pan-Canadian PRA program (NAC-PRA).
Applicants may be responsible for their own assessment fees after we have invoiced the sponsor—please review your employment and sponsorship contracts for details
Preliminary Clinical Assessment Fees (Part A & B combined)
