Are you a progressive physician leader who wants to positively impact Albertans and the medical profession?

CPSA is looking for an Assistant Registrar, Registration, Registration Assessments and Hearing Director to join our senior leadership team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in CPSA’s future growth and success by:

Severe pulmonary disease associated with e-cigarette (vaping) use

You may have heard about cases of severe lung disease in the United States that appear to be associated with a history of vaping. While no similar cases have been reported in Canada to date, effective Sept. 4, 2019, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has made severe pulmonary disease associated with e-cigarette use notifiable under the Public Health Act.

AHS’ Sept. 5 memo outlines symptoms to look for in patients and how to report any suspected cases.

Consultation 017 postponed: Duty to Report a Colleague, Duty of Treating Physicians… to Report a Physician to the College, and Self-Reporting to the College

It was previously announced that Consultation 017 would begin on Sept. 9. After careful consideration, our Standards of Practice team has decided to delay consultation on our reporting standards, to ensure we’re capturing all feedback and providing physicians with the best possible resources.

Keep an eye on future issues of Messenger for updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please email consultation@cpsa.ab.ca.

Consultation 018 pre-consultation open until Sept. 30: Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Advertising, and Conflict of Interest

Have your say before the drafting phase to ensure these standards are applicable and helpful to your medical practice. Take a few moments to review the standards and provide your feedback—all survey responses will be considered as we review and amend these standards.

If you have any questions, or would like to add yourself to the mailing list for future pre-consultations, email consulation@cpsa.ab.ca.
