Are you ready for mandatory reporting of serious ADRs and MDIs?

Effective Dec. 16, 2019, mandatory reporting of serious adverse drug reactions (serious ADR) and medical device incidents (MDI) will be required by hospitals across Canada, under the Protecting Canadians from Unsafe Drugs Act. This will help Health Canada be better able to collect information and take quick, appropriate action when a serious health risk is identified.

Learn more about ADR and MDI reporting through the Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s online education modules.

Help improve Home to Hospital to Home Transitions in Alberta!

Alberta will soon have guidelines on how patients can best transition from their communities, to hospitals and back home again. Thousands of healthcare workers in both acute care and primary care will be impacted by these guidelines, and the Primary Health Care Integration Network wants to connect with them—digitally! Have your say on how Home to Hospital to Home Transitions Guidelines can be implemented in a way that works for your region and practice.

Need help with the diagnosis of a work-related injury? Expedited orthopedic surgeon consultations are only a referral away.

Through a network of orthopedic surgeon partners, you and your patients can access expedited consultation through the new Diagnostic and Treatment Consultation (DTC) service. What you can expect when you refer a patient for a consultation:

  • An orthopedic surgeon will examine your patient and share their findings, expert recommendations and/or respond to any questions on your referral. The surgeon will not take on a treating role; decisions regarding ongoing care for your patient will remain under your direction.

  • A consultation letter will be sent to you within two business days of the exam to ensure you have prompt access to the information you need in caring for your patient.

  • You may request the consulting surgeon contact you directly to discuss findings if you wish.

Download the referral form to get started. If you have questions about DTC services or how WCB can support you in the care of your patients, please call WCB’s Physician Help Line toll-free at 1-855-498-4919.
