CPSA is seeking physician focus group participants
The CPSA is developing its new communication strategy, which will shape how we interact with you. Initial research was conducted in January and a second validation phase in April will help to ensure we’re on the right track. Focus groups will be held in Calgary on Saturday, April 6 at 12 p.m. and in Edmonton on Monday, April 8 at 6 p.m.

To align with language used by other programs across Canada, we’ve renamed PPAP to PRA-AB, or Practice Readiness Assessment.
PRA-AB is a registration assessment that ensures physician applicants who don’t meet the full requirements of the general register are ready for independent practice in Alberta.

Find out how many complaints the profession received last year
Last year, 713 Alberta physicians received a complaint. Although this is only slightly higher (3.4%) than the previous year, work in professional conduct was busier than ever, with more time spent on resolution before and after investigation, more hearings and more files going to appeal. Updated Standard of Practice: Safe Prescribing for Opioid Use Disorder
The new Safe Prescribing for Opioid Use Disorder standard of practice (formerly circulated as Opioid Agonist Treatment) was approved by Council for implementation effective April 1 and will be published then, along with an Advice to the Profession and Patient FAQs.
