Proposed amendments to AHS Medical Staff Bylaws

Physicians will have the opportunity to vote on proposed amendments to the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Medical Staff Bylaws in 2019. The Office of the AHS Vice President, Quality & Chief Medical Officer will host town hall information sessions for physicians. Medical staff are encouraged to participate in person or virtually.

To learn more about how to participate, as well as the proposed changes to the bylaws, please visit the AHS website.

Alberta Health Services launches My Care Conversations

This new app allows patients to record their conversations with their cancer care team, to help reduce stress and assist with recall and understanding. While an asset for patients and their loved ones, there is currently no way for patients to share these recordings with their doctors, to allow upload of the audio file to the clinical record. Physicians may want to consider recording interactions as well, to ensure the same information is available for the patient record.

Contact the Canadian Medical Protective Association for more information about any medico-legal implications.

The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) is hitting the road with a fantastic learning opportunity

The ACFP’s Collaborative Mentorship Networks for Chronic Pain and Addiction is travelling across Alberta to deliver a free, three-hour workshop: Identifying and Treating Opioid Use Disorder in Primary Care.

If you are a family physician and are interested in learning more about OUD, visit the ACFP’s website to see when they’ll be in your community.

Celebrate rural health care heroes by nominating them for a Rhapsody Award!

The Rural Health Profession Action Plan (RhPAP) invites you to recognize those who have made a difference to health care in rural Alberta.
